Crane Technician / Electrician
TITLE: Senior Technician
REPORTING RESOPNSIBILITY:
The Senior Technician reports directly to the branch Service Manager. The Senior Technician, at job site, will follow direction given by the Field Superintendant or Foreman leading the job.
PRIMARY DUTIES:
- Ability to work well with others and work as a member of the Reading Crane & Engineering team
- Inspect, repair, and service overhead cranes in a timely and cost effective manner
- Assist in crane modernization, upgrade, rebuild, etc.., projects in the field
- Supervise technicians and subcontractors on projects in the field
- Ensure that all company owned tools are properly signed out, cared for and returned to branch office with in a timely manner
SPECIFIC DUTIES:
- Inspect, repair and service of overhead cranes to maximize customer satisfaction and company profitability
- Assist in mechanical, electrical, welding, on site fabrication and assembly as well as any other specific task as directed by Field Superintendant and or Foreman
- Perform all work to meet company safety and quality standards
- Direct small to medium sized projects to meet budgets and completion dates
- Plan jobs and assist in estimating as required
- Troubleshoot customer crane problems and develop and implement solutions
- Encourage extras and additional sales from existing customers
- Fill out and ensure all paperwork is properly recorded
- Maintain good customer relations
- Control cost through efficient use of supplies and proper use of tools
- Develop an ongoing knowledge of crane equipment and technology
- Perform specific tasks as directed by management

The Senior Technician is a mid level position in the Reading Crane & Engineering Service Department. The Senior Technician will be eligible for promotion to Foreman upon successful completion of the below listed items. Completion of the items in no way guarantees promotion. Ultimately a promotion will be at the discretion of the branch Service Manager based upon company need.
- Recommendation of Field Superintendant / Forman based upon developed technical knowledge of crane equipment and technology
- Develop knowledge necessary to perform crane inspections
- Receive current certifications based upon area of expertise (welding / electrical)
- Demonstrated ability to lead and direct others while completing job at or under budget
- Demonstrated excellent communication ability effectively interacting with both Reading Crane & Engineering staff and customers
