Sales Intern


Title: Sales Intern

Overview: Reading Crane & Engineering, a leading company in the overhead crane industry, has an immediate opening for a Sales Intern.  Seeking a self-motivated individual, capable of growing and learning with the department.  Must have the ability to be hands on in a technical environment.  Sales, Engineering and Project Management backgrounds are a strong plus.

Responsibilities: Reports directly to the Sales Manager.  Must learn the sales process by completing training assignments and rotation throughout the company. Ultimately will be responsible for all aspects of Sales including estimates; proposals; budget preparation and management; adherence to guidelines, standards and procedures.  Must possess initiative and drive, have broad relevant technical knowledge with good interpersonal skills and have excellent written and verbal communication abilities.  Key points include:

  • Confer with management, production, and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
  • Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
  • Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes and equipment.
  • Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.
  • Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and prepare the terms of contracts.
  • Follow all of the safety policies and written procedures.
  • Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
  • Review and recommend contracts and cost estimates.
  • Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
  • Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
  • Plan, direct, and coordinate survey work with other staff activities.
  • Visit job sites and interact with customers at various levels.
  • Be able to work safely in at times harsh environments.
  • Assists in the development and implementation of marketing plans as needed.
  • Creates and conducts proposal presentations and RFP responses.
  • Travel as required.
     
Qualifications:

Good organizational and project management skills
Must posess sound judgment, initiative, flexibility and be detail-oriented
Sales, Marketing, Engineering, Project Management, Service and Overhead Crane experience are all strong pluses
