Project Engineer
Title: Project Engineer
Overview: Reading Crane & Engineering, a leading company in the overhead crane industry, has an immediate opening for a Project Engineer. Seeking a self motivated Engineer, capable of managing projects in a fast paced environment. Must have the ability to be hands on in a technical environment. Engineering degree required and Project Management background is a strong plus.
Responsibilities: Reports directly to the Engineering Manager. Responsible for day to day operations of project coordination. Works closely with the Sales and Service departments, supporting them when instructed as needed. Keeping the company's engineering skill set on the leading edge is a top priority. Responsible for all aspects of Project Management and control, including calculations; supervision of technicians; budget preparation and management; adhere to guidelines, standards and procedures. Candidate will be charged with strategic planning, tactical action, and project coordinating. Must possess initiative and drive, have broad relevant technical knowledge with good management expertise and have excellent written and verbal communication skills. Key points include:
- Confer with management, production, and sales staff to discuss project specifications and procedures.
- Coordinate and direct projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities.
- Plan and direct the installation, testing, operation, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes and equipment.
- Direct, review, and approve product design and changes.
- Prepare budgets, bids, and contracts, and prepare the terms of contracts.
- Follow all of the safety policies and written procedures.
- Perform administrative functions such as reviewing and writing reports, approving expenditures, enforcing rules, and making decisions about the purchase of materials or services.
- Review and recommend contracts and cost estimates.
- Present and explain proposals, reports, and findings to clients.
- Consult or negotiate with clients to prepare project specifications.
- Plan, direct, and coordinate survey work with other staff activities.
- Visit job sites and interact with customers at various levels.
- Be able to work safely in at times harsh environments.
- Travel as required.
Qualifications:
ME/EE/CE required
EIT/PE a plus but not needed
Must be a team player and value the culture in an organization
Strong analytical and logical problem solving skills
ACAD skills strongly preferred
Strong interpersonal communication and relational skills
Good organizational and project management skills
Must posess sound judgment, initiative, flexibility and be detail-oriented
Engineering, Project Management, Service and Overhead Crane experience are all strong pluses
